SOMN Season 2...wrapped!
Today we hosted the final Student Opportunities Managers Network session of 2025-26 and shared plans for the future of ‘SOMN’ (pronounced soh-muh-nuh!).
This year the Network has grown and the sessions have ranged from open, flexible spaces for members to bring problems and ideas, to more focused sessions looking at particular topics…
November & December - open spaces for problem solving
February - student groups re-affiliation process - how do you do yours?
April - Positive Student Activity Culture
June - reflective wrap up - how did the year go?
This space is so valuable and we’re committed to supporting it again in 2026-27. Based on feedback from Network members, here’s the plan for next year…
Meetings will be just for managers - whether you manage a team or you’re a lone manager of your student opportunities service. We really encourage coordinators to join your local Student Opportunities Community of Practice (or get it going in your area!)
Sessions will be first thing in the morning - bring your coffee!
We’re running an in-person day in late October/early November in the Midlands
The format will be the same in every meeting so you know what to expect
The WhatsApp group will remain a space for Managers and Coordinators
If you’re on the mailing list we will share details there and ask you to re-join. New members are always welcome and you can join here. It’s free and open to any student opportunities manager, across the UK and Ireland.
