UWTSD Students’ Union

There was a need to create a strategy for Student Opportunities at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.

“We have a very odd context of FE/HE and multi-campus with very much a 'developing' Ops model. Organised Fun was able to apply previous experience and knowledge to understand our context but also make insightful suggestions.

The plan was practical in that it provided strategic direction and suggestions for improvements but also came with some quick-fixes that helped us to just get cracking. Being able to see how we can start rather than just being strategic gave everyone focus.”

Steve Ralph, Chief Executive Officer, University of Wales Trinity Saint David

Step up to Serve

We created a digital, five-day event with Step up to Serve, the Power of Youth Festival.

“Organised Fun exceeded our expectations. If ever anyone needs to put on a digital festival ever again, we'll be recommending them in a heartbeat!”

We asked the team at Step up to Serve what they think we’re particularly good at, and they said... “keeping calm; getting stuff done efficiently; being clear about what is/isn't possible; outlining options & making clear recommendations; being wizards at Vimeo; being great liaison between client and technical web developers!”

Queen Mary Students’ Union

The Student Opportunities team at Queen Mary SU reached out to get some support as they were feeling overloaded. They asked for an external ‘eye’ over their processes and some guidance to make things slicker.

Our Associate, Hannah Templeman, led on this work. The team at QMSU said…

“Hannah and Rosie= very knowledgeable! Felt in safe hands. They really care about the sector and the work they do. The best combination!”

“Organised Fun took time to go through our problems with us to make sure that they were going to focus on what would be most helpful for us.”

Bronwen Eastaugh, Student Engagement Manager, Queen Mary Students’ Union

Christ Church Students’ Union

Christ Church Students’ Union were one of the first SUs to work through the Student Opportunities Framework with us.

As a small team with lots of activity going on, the Student Opportunities staff were at capacity and a bit ‘stuck’ with their current processes. We discussed where the sticking points were and shared ideas for improvement.

“Rosie from Organised Fun set a clear timescale and plan for how the review would work and was open throughout that the Framework was in development and feedback would be welcomed. The review and recommendations have been transformative for our opportunities provision.”

Kate Little, Head of Engagement & Deputy CEO – Christ Church Students’ Union

Arts Students’ Union

“Rosie was asked to do a million and one things while working with the Arts SU Activities team in October and November 2019. Somehow, she managed to do it all, covering our societies programme support and a bespoke fitness and wellbeing programme for students across the 6 colleges and 13 sites of UAL. Both programmes involved many face to face meetings with students and extensive liaison with multiple stakeholders to ensure student events happened successfully.

When Rosie left, she left us with a many improved processes due to her strategic way of working and gave us a very useful strategy framework for the teams’ objectives too.

We can highly recommend Rosie for her expertise in working with students, developing student opportunities and improving administrative and strategic processes. Thanks so much from Arts SU.”

Claire Flannery, Activities Development Manager, Arts SU

Students Organising for Sustainability

“After delivering a really engaging volunteer recruitment workshop during an event we organised for student-led social enterprises we didn’t hesitate to ask Organised Fun to deliver another session at our national annual conference. This session was called ‘Cracking the challenge of volunteer recruitment and retention’ and was aimed at recruiting students for societies, sustainability projects, growing sites and/or student-led enterprises. The students, university and SU staff who attended were all really engaged, there was a great balance of information and interactivity and all left feeling inspired and motivated to implement the new ideas.

We had lots of anecdotal feedback from people telling us how much they learnt from and enjoyed the session; and one student responded in our feedback survey that the most important thing they learnt from the whole Student Eats conference was “How to retain volunteers - how they get to know about things (what is the best way to reach them) and what they need to keep them attending”. Thank you Rosie and the Organised Fun team, we’d certainly recommend you and book you for future sessions!”
